TIP Initiative Goals: A consortium of local television broadcasters including Nexstar Media, Sinclair Broadcasting, TEGNA and Tribune Media, launched the TV Interface Practices or ‘TIP Initiative,’ an industry work group dedicated to developing standards-based interfaces to accelerate automated advertising transactions for local TV broadcasters and their media agency partners.

TVB, the trade association representing local broadcast television, provides a repository for the TIP Initiative’s work and open access for industry partners. The first post is the TIP Whitepaper, “Interface Automation Guidelines for Local TV Transactions.”

The TIP Initiative will identify ways to automate the process of buying and selling local broadcast TV to achieve the following:

  • Make it easier for agencies to do business with broadcasters and increase transaction velocity
  • Compete more effectively with national broadcast and digital video by reducing friction
  • Enable more efficiencies for both seller and buyer operations through automation
  • Facilitate aggregation of Local TV by using the same interfaces
  • Achieve greater accuracy by reducing errors and reconciliation
  • Enable the increased application of data and optimization to Local TV

Interested parties can request more information about participation in the TIP Initiative.
