Harris Corporation Commits To TVB/AAAA
EDI Initiatives To Enable Ad Industry To
Do Business Electronically

NEW YORK, March 30, 2005 -- Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), a leader in business systems for the advertising industry, today announced its commitment to the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) initiatives of the Television Bureau of Advertising (TVB) and the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA) for hub standards and open systems with XML formats. Harris, which entered the advertising systems business with the acquisition of Encoda Systems, Inc. last November, is working with the TVB/AAAA to extend the open standards to develop two-way E-orders and E-orders for local television stations.

EDI will enable advertising agencies, reps and broadcasters to conduct business transactions electronically, thereby eliminating inefficiencies that can occur in the manual process such as tedious rekeying of data, input errors and wasted paper. Beyond processing invoices, EDI can be used by trading partners to place orders, handle makegoods and make revisions. Also in development is the functionality to convert one-way local E-orders so they can be delivered to Harris' traffic systems.

Harris has begun development of an E-order hub that will use web technology to receive electronic orders and pass the orders to other hubs, such as third-party vendors, O&O television stations and reps. E-orders use XML formats to enable instant and seamless electronic transactions between industry trading partners. These XML schemas provide a context in all areas of the media lifecycle, from the avail to the invoice stage. Harris is developing its software to these open system standards and working with TVB/AAAA's committees to extend its rep system to two-way E-orders. This initiative will enable agencies and reps to send electronic orders back and forth, making the buy and sell process more efficient.
