Issue #10 March, 2008

Here are the latest developments benefiting Local Broadcast TV:

  • TVB ePort is live: ePort launched in 4Q '07. With funding from over 60 broadcast groups and all of the TV rep firms, buyers and sellers can send/receive Orders, Revisions and Makegoods using ePort in over 98% of the US. Electronic Web/Multiplatform Orders, Log Times and the full suite of Spot TV transactions will be enabled by ePort by the end of 2Q '08. Click here to connect to the TVB ePort website, www.tvb-eport.net for FAQS, a video demo and “how to” ePort information.

  • Strata Marketing is first agency system compliant with TVB ePort: Using industry standard electronic documents and its “11” product, Strata agencies are now able to send Orders and Revisions directly to national reps and stations via ePort and they can receive Makegoods the same way. Strata agencies including Blitz Media, Fry/Hammond/Barr, Harmelin Media, Horizon Media, MARC USA and the Neiman Group are just a few of the agencies that are now using ePort. For more information about Strata's eBiz capabilities, contact David Drucker at ddrucker@stratag.com.

  • Sales systems OneDomain, Strata and WideOrbit eliminate re-keying: A major benefit of standards compliance is doing away with data entering Orders and changes into sales systems. OneDomain, Strata and WideOrbit sales systems have all adopted the standards and offer their AEs the ability to download Electronic Orders from ePort without re-keying. For more information contact, One Domain's Greg Calhoun: greg@onedomain.com, Strata's Mike McHugh: mmchugh@stratag.com and WideOrbit's Steve Sommer: ssommer@wideorbit.com.

  • Buy systems Mediaplex and OneDomain complete ePort beta: Mediaplex and OneDomain, along with Strata Marketing, participated in a live demonstration of TVB ePort at the AAAA media conference. These companies showed that by using industry standards they could maintain their unique buy side functionality while enabling electronic Orders, Revisions and Makegoods via ePort. Mediaplex and OneDomain expect to go live with ePort in late 1Q. For more on their systems, go to www.mediaplex.com and www.onedomain.com.

  • DDS takes first step toward industry standards compliance: DDS has announced that:
    • Reppak and MediaOcean sales systems are accepting industry standard original Orders from non-DARE agencies through ePort.
    • By the end of 2008, with the release and implementation of the new Spot Desktop, DDS agencies will be able to send industry standard Orders and Revisions to non-DARE stations via ePort.

The announcement did not include plans to enable Makegoods, Web/Multiplatform Orders or Log times via ePort. For more information, contact Ken Breen at ken.breen@dds.net.

  • ePort Connect (for buyers without buy systems) launches: Local agencies without buy systems, are now able to enjoy all the benefits of eBiz through ePort Connect. San Diego's AM Strategies is the first customer to use this feature (designed especially for smaller agencies) to send Orders/Revisions and receive Makegoods electronically. They launched the feature with Tribune's KSWB. If you would like to enroll an agency in ePort Connect (it's free!) please contact hope@tvb-eport.net.
