A report by JiWire found that mobile users find the most appealing location-based ads are coupons, with 39 percent agreeing that they want discounts while on the go. They are also interested in discovering nearby stores and reviews through ads on location-based apps.More than half of the JiWire respondents said they were willing to share their location for more relevant ads.

A lack of analytics, audience size and fragmentation are among the still face mobile marketers despite the growth mobile media consumptions, according to a new report from digital agency 360i. When it comes to research on mobile usage and advertising, for instance, the firm points out that it's often not as extensive as that covering Web sites and Internet users.

HBO to stream shows and movies on mobile devices
HBO will begin streaming shows and movies on mobile devices -- including the iPad -- within the next six months, a company spokesperson confirmed. The content will be available through HBO Go, the Hulu-like service that the premium cable channel makes available to subscribers. Mobile video views growing at fast pace
Mobile video views are growing at a rate that could be four times what analysts suspect, according to the CEO of Rhythm NewMedia, which just released its second quarterly report on mobile video advertising. That report shows average monthly content views from Q1 to Q2 grew at the rate of 30 percent.That’s a substantially faster rate than has been forecast by other industry sources. An August 3 report from eMarketer, for instance, said that mobile video would double its reach by 2013.

Mobile video's audience is poised to expand by 30% to 23.9 million users in 2010 and double its size by 2013, according to new eMarketer estimates. The number of mobile video viewers, which includes users who watch via mobile browsers, subscriptions, downloads or applications at least once per month, will continue growing in the double digits for a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 22.8% from 2009 through 2014.

Ad execs sweet on mobile media
Ad executives are sweet on mobile media, with more than half planning to increase their spending on mobile media in the next 12 months, according to the Advertiser Intelligence Report from Advertiser Perceptions. The survey suggests that spending on mobile marketing will be growing at a faster rate than other media.
