TOTAL BROADCAST TV REVENUES WERE
DOWN 4.4% IN 2007
NEW YORK, Feb. 29, 2008 -- Total broadcast television ad revenues were down 4.4% in 2007, compared to 2006, according to the Television Bureau of Advertising (TVB) analysis of estimates supplied by TNS Media Intelligence/CMR, reflecting the absence of the Olympics and election-year political dollars.
Local broadcast TV posted a 9.5% decline for the year, syndicated TV posted a 1.5% drop, and network TV saw a 1.2% drop.
In the fourth quarter of 2007, total broadcast TV posted a 5.6% decline. The component parts of that total saw local broadcast television posting a 17.2% decline, syndicated TV posting a 7.9% gain, and network TV posting a 1.9% gain.
