TV Basics: Introduction

Welcome to the online version of TV Basics, one of TVB’s most popular reference guides.  Just as the consumer has increased media choices and usage options, local broadcast television stations have expanded abilities to serve their local marketplaces in a variety of ways that extend beyond their traditional on-air fare to such offerings as website and mobile content.  In this year’s edition of TV Basics, you will find information and statistics that will help you understand and navigate the increasingly complex multiplatform world in which we all operate.

TV Basics is changing with the times and has expanded in recent years to help you track key statistics in all of these areas. 2008’s edition is no exception, with new and expanded information for you to use.

For example, you will now find historical DVR Universe Estimates, an expanded section on Internet, Mobile and Digital statistics, an enhanced Political Ad Spending report, as well as an expanded glossary of multiplatform terms.

We hope TV Basics has become your go-to reference guide, the one handy booklet that you keep in your briefcase or on your desk for easy reference. But since these statistics keep coming — and we don’t want you to have to wait another year for the latest data — we keep a cyber-edition of TV Basics constantly updated on the TVB website. We suggest you bookmark tvbasics for quick access to the most current data available.

Don’t see what you’re looking for? Call us or e-mail info@tvb.org... chances are, we can help!

We hope you enjoy this latest edition of TV Basics.
