TV Basics: Local Station Website Strength
Local broadcasters made significant gains in their Internet operations in 2008 – adding online executives and salespeople, redesigning sites, forming strategic partnerships and adding an array of content. These new initiatives, combined with ongoing efforts by stations that have been developing their local Internet operations for the past decade, resulted in a jump to $1.05 billion in online revenues in 2008.

Local stations saw online revenues increase an average of 36 percent, from $772 million in 2007 to $1.05 billion in 2008. Revenues for 2009 are estimated at $1.3 billion and are expected to increase 38% to $1.8 billion in 2011.
