Word of mouth is a critical influencer and form of marketing. The 2026 Media & Conversations Study assesses and quantifies the role of media in influencing conversations across demographic groups, political party affiliations and ethnicities as well as key product categories.

Questions addressed:

  • Which medium is the strongest conversation driver – broadcast, cable or streaming?
  • What are people’s attitudes toward news sources in regard to trust, believability, shareability and fake news?
  • 2026 is going to be a huge political year.  What media assets get voters out to vote? What media is influencing their conversations? Are there differences between parties?
  • How do media platforms influence word of mouth among those who are in the market for products and services like auto, furniture, healthcare, home improvement, legal services, new homes, restaurants, retail and travel?

To find the answers to these questions and more, TVB commissioned GfK/NIQ to conduct a national study of 3,000 adult 18+ respondents.
